30 minutes with Laura

Known to many of our clients as the friendly face behind customer account management, Laura now also manages the Sales & Marketing team.

Squeezing 30 mins into Laura’s schedule has been tricky but having recently marked 3 years since joining the team, a “Get to Know Laura” piece was long overdue.

“2019 was quite an eventful year! In the March I started at Civica. I also then got married and moved house!”

Lockdown kicked in a few months later bringing many changes with it, but not one to take it easy, Laura decided to take the new house in hand.

“We used the extra time to redecorate nearly every room. I learnt to wallpaper, and family helped (when allowed) on some large projects.”

Now things are starting to return to a new normal, Laura is enjoying a mix of office and home-based working, where she is kept company by 3 cats and her dog, Teddy.

“All my cats were rescues and 3 pets was supposed to be the maximum… but when a family pet had puppies, I couldn’t resist bringing Teddy into the fold too.”

Do you have any memorable moments at Civica?

“During my time I have progressed to managing my own team, attended the Restaurant and Bar Tech Live exhibition, managed every client account at some point, attended our South Cheshire Chamber Business Awards and have also had the opportunity to go clay pigeon shooting at our company event.”

What do you like to do in your spare time?

“When not taking care of my many pets, in my spare time I like to spend time with friends and family; my two little brothers often come to stay for the weekend. I also watch a wide range of TV programs including Outlander, Modern Family and The Witcher.

My favourite film would have to be the Lord of the Rings. Technically 3 films, but definitely the best trilogy ever made!

On a weekend I can often be found gardening, playing a video or board game and preparing a delicious home cooked meal from our collection of Bosh Cookbooks.

I love to travel abroad when opportunity allows. My favourite destination has to be Italy. It is fascinating for the history, beauty, and food. We went to Sorrento for our honeymoon and will be returning this year again.

What are your plans over the next 12 months?

We have put in place some new systems which is making account management much smoother, and this will be evolving further over the next few months. We are also busy preparing for the launch of a new and exciting product, which will be available for MyExpenses or as a standalone, which I am really excited about.
